It is not fussiness for its own sake. Tidy work is easier to inspect, easier for the next electrician to understand, and it means you get your house back at the end of the day rather than a building site.
(Yes, the odd one out is the church of Saint-Savin in Poitou-Charentes, which we visited a few years ago. It turns out columns come in colours other than white.)
