Some buildings have stood for six hundred years and deserve an electrician who plans on them standing six hundred more.
Electrical work in a church or listed building is a different discipline. Cable runs must respect the fabric. Fittings must light the space without shouting at it. Every hole is a decision. At All Saints in Wretton, Matthew lit one side of the nave only, precisely to keep the wiring out of sight.
Ferrie Electrical carries out lighting schemes, electrical inspections and remedial work for churches and period properties across Norfolk and East Anglia, working with churchwardens, PCCs and architects, and fitting around services and events.

Wardens tell us the real change is what happens afterwards. A church that was dark and little used between Sundays becomes somewhere the whole community can actually be: choir practice on winter evenings, toddler groups, concerts, a warm and welcoming space all year round. That is what a lighting scheme is really for.
Net Zero Carbon schemes. A good deal of our church work now comes through the Diocese of Ely's Net Zero Carbon project, replacing old lamps with LED, adding light to the dark corners, and putting proper floodlighting into chancels. Lower bills and a smaller carbon footprint, and the building looks better for it. If your PCC has been offered the scheme and you are wondering who can actually do the work sympathetically, that is precisely what we do.
At St Peters in Upwell we brought back to the light the carved features in the woodwork that had been languishing in shadow for years, including the famous 13th and 15th century angels, finished in time for the Christmas services. At Christ Church Whittington the brief was even light distribution with the fittings hidden wherever possible. At St Mary's in Harlton it was LED lamps to cut the running costs. Every one of them is a different building with a different answer.

Matthew, of Ferrie Electrical Services, have just replaced old strip lighting in St Mary's Church Farcet, with LED lighting. Matthew worked on his own most of the time and the job was completed in seven and half days. It has transformed the church and the lighting is so much better.
