This one was photographed the whole way through, which is rare and rather useful. The kitchen that came out had been there a long time: cream units, blue tiled worktops, and the wiring that came with them.
Once it was out, the room went back to bare walls and the original brick floor, which is exactly the moment to do the electrics properly. Every cable was chased in and labelled as it went: AGA isolators, AGA lights, the dishwasher, the under floor heating, each one named on the conduit so that nobody is guessing in ten years time.
Then plaster, then the new kitchen. The AGA sits back in the old chimney recess, the dresser is lit underneath, and the butler sink is back under the window. The last photograph is that window at dusk, which is the bit everybody stops at.
Matt has come round to sort out various elements of the electrics in our new house. I have been very impressed by the efficiency, honesty and quality of his work.
